Point your domain to your Squarespace website

If you have built a site with Squarespace and your domain is managed with Netregistry you can follow these steps to connect them. To start, refer to the first three steps of Squarespace support article here to add your Netregistry domain to your Squarespace account and to view their DNS settings.

Once you have completed the first three steps of the Squarespace article you will need to add the provided DNS records to your Netregistry account. Depending on which hosting product you have with us, follow either the Cloud or cPanel steps below:

cPanel hosting:

  1. Log into the Console
  2. Manage your domain you want to make changes to
  3. Click cPanel Hosting then Log into cPanel interface
  4. Once in cPanel, click on the Zone Editor icon, click Manage next to your domain
  5. Select the drop down menu next to Add Record then CNAME Record and copy in the details from Squarespace for their verification DNS record ('name' will appear randomly generated by Squarespace, 'record' will look like verify.squarespace.com) then select Add Record
  6. Find the 'A' record with host name matching your domain (usually the first record listed)
  7. Select Edit next to the record, change the IP address on the Address Field to one provided to you by Squarespace, this will look similar to 198.185.159.144.
  8. Leave the other settings as is and click Save Record
  9. Click Edit for the CNAME record named www.yourdomain.com.
  10. Change the Record on the CNAME to what has been provided by Squarespace e.g. ex-cust.squarespace.com
  11. Leave the other settings as it as and click Save Record

Note: If you have a CNAME record with the name mail.yourdomain.com, you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Click Edit next to mail.yourdomain.com
  2. Change Type to A
  3. Change the address to your default cPanel machine, this will take the form of 27.121.64.XX and save the record
  4. Click Edit on your MX record
  5. Change the Destination field to mail.yourdomain.com

Cloud Hosting:

Prerequisites:

Before you can point your domain externally you will need a parked domain or domain manager service and for the name servers to be delegated to Netregistry.

  1. Log into the Console
  2. Manage your domain you want to make changes to
  3. Ensure Domain Redirector is turned off if you have this option
  4. Click Zone Manager then CNAME Record from the drop down box under the title 'Add a Zone Record' then Create New Record
  5. Add the Name and Host information from the verification record provided by Squarespace, ('name' will appear randomly generated by Squarespace, 'host' will look like verify.squarespace.com) select Add Record
  6. Find your existing record named 'www' and select update or add a new CNAME and fill in the blank fields and select Add Record
    Name - www
    Host - The name of the host provided by Squarespace e.g. ext-cust.squarespace.com
  7. Find the A record with host name matching your domain, if you do not have one create an A record, fill in the blank fields as below then select Add Record
    Name - You can leave this field blank as it will directly point to your domain
    Host - The IP given to you by Squarespace, this will look similar to this: 198.185.159.144.

Note: Standard DNS propagation time of up to two hours may apply. Refreshing the internet browsers cache can help to display the changes if they're not automatically visible after two hours. Press CTRL-F5 (PC) or CMD-R (Mac).
