Backup a MySQL database
Before performing any update or changes to your website, it is best to backup both your website and database. We recommend storing a copy on your local computer or external hard disk. If you update your website with new content often, we also recommend backing up your website files and database regularly.
Backup a MySQL database on Cloud Hosting
- Log into phpMyAdmin
- Click Export
- Select Quick - display only the minimal options as the Export method
- Select SQL as the format
- Click [Go]
Backup a MySQL database on cPanel Hosting
- Log into phpMyAdmin
- Select the database you wish to export from the left hand column
- Click Export
- Select Quick - display only the minimal options as the Export method
- Select SQL as the format
- Click [Go]
Backup a MySQL database on cPanel Hosting (Alternative method)
- Log into the Console
- Manage your domain
- Click cPanel
- Click the Backups icon
- Locate the database you want to backup under the Download a MySQL Database Backup heading
- Click on the name of the database you wish to backup
