Backup a MySQL database

Before performing any update or changes to your website, it is best to backup both your website and database. We recommend storing a copy on your local computer or external hard disk. If you update your website with new content often, we also recommend backing up your website files and database regularly.

Backup a MySQL database on Cloud Hosting

1. Log into phpMyAdmin
2. Click Export
3. Select Quick - display only the minimal options as the Export method
4. Select SQL as the format
5. Click [Go]

Backup a MySQL database on cPanel Hosting

1. Log into phpMyAdmin
2. Select the database you wish to export from the left hand column
3. Click Export
4. Select Quick - display only the minimal options as the Export method
5. Select SQL as the format
6. Click [Go]

Backup a MySQL database on cPanel Hosting (Alternative method)

1. Log into the Console
2. Manage your domain
3. Click cPanel
4. Click the Backups icon
5. Locate the database you want to backup under the Download a MySQL Database Backup heading
6. Click on the name of the database you wish to backup
