How do I delete the default A records?

When Domain Manager, Email hosting or Parked Domain services are first set-up, A-records are automatically set by default in the Zone Manager. These services require A-records to correctly direct any internet request to the customer defined URL. These can be removed, should other IP addresses be required.

Domain Manager and Email Hosting customers

The Domain Manager service or any Email only hosting package includes a URL redirection facility in addition to their other features.

To remove the default A records:

  1. Login to the Console
  2. Manage the domain you want to make changes to
  3. Locate the Redirection icon
  4. Click Click here to disable Redirector

The default A-records are removed from the Zone. Please allow for the correct propagation time of any added A-records.

Note: Standard DNS propagation time of approximately two hours may apply.

Parked Domain customers

The Parked Domain facility provides a default domain name holding page that is used in place of an established web page and additionally comes included with a URL redirection facility. It is only available on domains without subscription services. If this feature is not available where you believe it should be, please contact Netregistry technical support.

To remove the default A records:

  1. Login to the Console
  2. Manage the domain you want to make changes to
  3. Locate The ParkedDomain section
  4. Click Click here to disable parking page

Note: Standard DNS propagation time of approximately 2 hours may apply.

Web Hosting customers

Web hosting products are established with A-records that connect to a server at a default IP address. Removing the A-records will prevent that service from working. Because of this, there is no option to disable the A-records.

If there is a requirement to make these changes, please contact our support team by phone or ticket.
