A quick guide for how to spot and avoid scam or phishing emails
This article contains a list of all known scam emails that may be affecting our customers.
Protect your data:
Watch out for emails that don't know information about you, e.g. "Dear Customer".
Emails that do not show your correct Webcentral Account Reference.
Links that take you to a website other than webcentral.au or webcentral.com.au.
Notices to make a payment or renewal when these are not due yet. You can always log in to your account to check when your services are due and renew securely once logged in.
Always check the sent address from emails you receive. Emails sent by Webcentral will have our domain after the @ symbol (such as [email protected] or [email protected]. Emails from our marketing channels will be sent via: [email protected]

June 24th 2024:
Please be aware of a phishing email claiming that you have not used a Webcentral messaging service for more than a week and requests you click on a link. Please do not click on this link or reply to the email. Simply delete or move to your Spam folder. Find a screenshot of the email below:
We would like to alert you to a recent phishing scam identified by auDA that is targeting .au domain registrants via email.
Scammers are posing as auDA employees and sending emails to registrants, asking them to click a link to confirm their contact details to retain their .au domain name license.
Please be aware of emails that claim to be from auDA containing the subject field:
"Please confirm domain name ownership, with the registrants domain inserted."
auDA has issued a public statement on their website to inform registrants about this scam and has provided links to additional information and support resources regarding scams. The ACCC’s Scamwatch has also been notified.
At this time, auDA has not provided an update on the number of customers affected. We will keep you informed of any further developments. Please feel free to reach out to our customer care team for any further questions or concerns.

Please be aware of the following scam email (pictured below), claiming to be from Webcentral, with the subject "Action Required: Renew your Expired Domain!". Please do NOT click the link or respond to this email. Instead, delete/ignore the email.
Always check the actual sending address of an email. The 'From' address may claim to be from Webcentral, like in this email, but if you hover your mouse over the address you should be able to see the real sending address (depending on your mail client).

Please be aware of the scam email (pictured below), claiming to be from Webcentral, telling customers that their cPanel service has been suspended due to non-payment and telling them to "renew now". Please do NOT click the link. Instead, delete/ignore the email.
Always check the sent address from emails you receive. Emails sent by Webcentral will have our domain after the @ symbol (such as [email protected]). These scam emails are being sent from addresses not related to Webcentral. We will also include your account reference next to "Account:" NOT your email address. Your account reference is typically 3 letters followed by 3 numbers e.g., ABC-123.

Please consult your domain registrar (who you pay to keep your domain) if you are concerned your domain will expire.

Please be aware of the scam email (pictured below) telling customers that their cPanel has been temporarily suspended and that they need to click the 'Renew Now' link. This email has the cPanel logo but is NOT a legitimate email. Please do NOT click the link. Instead, delete/ignore the email.

November 2021
Starting approximately 20th of November (AEDT) several of our customers have received a phishing email sent to them with Webcentral’s branding. The email states that you need to click the ‘CLICK HERE’ button to renew your order and pay $14.85 AUD. Please do NOT click the link and instead delete/ignore the email.

A scam email pretending to be from auDA is asking registrants of .au domain names to share personal information.
