What do I need to consider before I transfer my domain to Netregistry?

  • Once a domain enters PENDING TRANSFER status, its name servers cannot be modified until the transfer is complete. You might want to consider modifying your domains name servers before beginning the transfer.
  • If the domain is expiring within 89 days, you will have to renew the domain during transfer.

How to transfer a .au domain to Webcentral if you're a new customer:

  1. Click here to transfer your domain
  2. Type in your EPP password (also called a domain password)
  3. Click Continue
  4. Follow the prompts on your screen
  5. Click Submit
  6. Click Create a new account
  7. Fill in the appropriate fields
  8. Click Continue

Once submitted, you will immediately get an email to the email address provided during account creation. This email will include your account reference and password for your new account. No domain or services will exist within the account yet.

How to transfer a .au domain to Webcentral if you're an existing customer:

  1. Log in to your Webcentral account
  2. In the Overview menu click Transfer domains
  3. Type in the domain and select the appropriate TLD extension from the drop-down
  4. Type in the domain EPP/Authcode
  5. Click Transfer
  6. Select an existing user from the drop-down menu or create a new one using the form provided. This contact is simply a Webcentral domain contact and will not modify the existing domain contact details available on WHOIS. It is simply used for administrative purposes at Webcentral
  7. Click Transfer

Once submitted, you will immediately get an email to the email address provided during account creation. This email will include your account reference and password for your new account. However, no domain or services will exist within the account yet.

Approving the .au domain transfer

Once a request has been made to transfer the .au domain to Webcentral, an email will be sent to the registrant's contact email address of the domain (this email can take 1-2 hours to be sent). You can check what the current registrant contact email address for your .au domain is by clicking here and searching your domain.

If you do not currently have access to this email address, you must contact your current registrar (the company you pay to keep your domain) and request they update your domain registrant contact email address.

To proceed with the transfer, an approval link that is provided to the registrant's contact email address must be clicked. Once clicked, the request to transfer the domain begins. It generally takes 48-72 hours from the moment the link is clicked for the .au domain to be transferred to Webcentral.
