Transferring your domain and website to Webcentral

It is possible to transfer (a.k.a. migrate) both your domain name and your associated website hosting service to Netregistry. Each process is performed separately, and neither of the processes are dependant on each other. You can transfer the domain registration to Netregistry at any time and retain your hosting service where it is. Similarly you can transfer your website to Netregistry hosting services and leave the registration at the original/current registration provider.

Depending on your current domain registration details and hosting configurations, Netregistry can help tailor a migration plan to suit your needs. The 3 simplified steps for transfering your domain and website are outlined below.

Step 1) Transfer your domain name

You can initiate the transfer of domain names to Netregistry via your account, or through the Netregistry website.

Simply click the “ Orders” tab at the top of your Console home page, which will open a page where you can initiate a domain transfer request. NOTE: In many cases, domain transfer passwords (EPP, UDAI, Auth-Info) will be required to initiate a transfer request.

.au domain names can be migrated in bulk by simply uploading a spreadsheet, available from within The Console admin panel. This is free and doesn't require you to pay for the domain name renewals at the same time, unless it within 89 days of expiry and up for renewal.

Other domain names, like .com, require you to renew the domain names as you transfer from one registrar to another. A bulk transfer of .com domain names is available on request – please speak with our Customer Service Team for further information.

Step 2) Transfer your Hosting

You can transfer hosting from one provider to another without any downtime for the website and its associated email hosting services. There are several methods to achieve this, the easiest being to set up the hosting environment with Netregistry and The site through a staging URL to ensure it is operational before transferring name servers to point to the newly set up website. We have written a detailed article on Transferring a website with no downtime to assist customers in processing the website migration on their own. Transfering your emails is also a separate process outlined in the article Transfering Email Services.

Step 3) Delegate your DNS/Zones

Once your domain name and hosting is with Netregistry you will need to delegate the domain name to our DNS. You can manage the Domains zone records In the Zone Manager or cPanel if the DNS is with Netregistry. If the DNS is not with Netregistry you will need to contact your current DNS provider to delegate the relevant Netregistry webserver IP address.
