Overview
The Console currently supports many separate connections to various domain Registry and Reseller platforms. When the Console attempts to perform an action, such as renew domain/update DNS, it first identifies which connection ID the domain name is managed with. Once identified, it sends the appropriate command to the platform associated with that connection ID in order to perform the relevant action at the Registry.
Having many connection IDs, reseller platforms and accredited registry accounts adds unnecessary complexity to our business. This complexity results in problems such as;
- Staff not knowing whether a domain is registered with us or not
- The Console failing to renew domains
- Domains costing us more than they should (impacting our margins)
- Customers having to contact our help desk because they’re unable to change their DNS themselves
To address issues such as these, we’re consolidating most of our domain names into a smaller number of accounts. This will allow us to limit the number of connections the Console needs to maintain and make it easier for us to focus on a smaller number of connections and accounts. This is done through automation with a Transfer on Renew Process for some domain names.

Customer View
Manual Renewal via Account Portal
If an account holder manually renews a domain name which has been flagged to be ‘Transfer + Renewed’, a message will appear within the Account Portal to indicate to the customer that this particular domain will be transferred during the renewal process.

Auto Renew
All customers who have ‘Autorenew’ enabled on their domains receive automated email reminders that their domains will be auto-renewing in X number of days. We have not added functionality to send unique emails to customers whose domains will be transfer + renewed during the autorenewal process. We recommend adding content to the existing autorenewal notifications to indicate that some domains may be transferred as part of regular consolidation activities.

Should a client contact us with concerns about about why they got a renewal request you can use the standard response below.
Transfer on Renew - Standard Response |

Dear Customer In order to serve you better, we are consolidating our domain name registrar accounts. This means that when renewing your domain(s) we may transfer some to a new registrar. The domain(s) will continue to be completely managed by us and owned by you. Its a back-end transfer that wont affect you or your domain name, but as an accredited domain registrar we're obliged to let you know. Should you have any questions or concerns feel free to respond back to this email. Rest assured that your domain name should be renewed accordingly. Kind Regard Customer Care |
