# Overview of .IT Domain

The .IT domain is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Italy, managed by Registro .it.

## Eligibility

The registrant must be an adult with citizenship, residence or commercial headquarters in one of the following:

* A European Economic Area (EEA) country
* Vatican City State
* Republic of San Marino
* Swiss Confederation
* United Kingdom

## Information Required

### 1. Entity Type

* Italian Companies
* Italian Individual Firms, Freelance Workers/Professionals
* Italian Non-profit Organisations
* Italian Other Subjects
* Italian Public Organisations
* Non-Italian, Non-Persons (foreign organisations)
* Persons, Foreign and Italian (individuals)

### 2. Nationality

### 3. Identification Number

* **Codice Fiscale** – if the registrant is located in Italy
* **VAT number** – if the registrant is an organisation
* **Personal ID number** – if the registrant is located elsewhere

## Nameserver Requirements

Valid, working nameservers are required by Registro .it before the domain can be registered. Please provide the nameservers you wish to use when placing your order.
